Shhhh...quiet! I'm looking through the greenhouse again! Chef Suzanne has been busy transplanting the seedlings. Each plant is separated into its own tiny pot with plenty of room to grow and await the warm weather.
The seedlings are growing strong and hardy, for soon they will be planted in the ground.
The spring lettuces are huge! Not long ago they were only an inch or two in height, now they are full leaves, 5 or 6 inches each!
Shoot! Here she comes! We'd better get out before she finds us peeking!
Now, outside, the raised bed has the radishes the children planted sprouting through the soil. By planting them in the cooler weather, Chef Suzanne has ensured the first batch of radishes will not be too hot!
The peas planted shortly after St. Patrick's Day are coming up now too. Soon, they'll be winding their way up the trellises to the sky, producing sweet sugar snap peas, to top SoupHerb salads.

It doesn't take detective work to see the effort in the garden outside, the mulch, made by the Kosovich family, is neatly laid out in the paths, the beds are tilled, and the trellises and cages are in place.
I did peek around the garage last weekend to see the Chef herself planting seeds near a trellis, after she left I saw it was Peas!

March is the month of Mulch in the Kosovich Garden. Walter and Suzanne worked tirelessly last weekend chipping the branches and sticks in the yard then mixing it with cedar chips to make a mulch path for the garden. Even the Christmas tree was shredded and reused.
The tomato cages are lined up, the trellises are in place for the peas, and the garden is almost ready for planting. This week, weather permitting, the nutrient rich dirt from the compost will be mixed into the beds of the garden, preparing the soil to feed the family and the restaurant.
Sshhh! I snuck into the Chef's Greenhouse again, let's see what is starting to grow. They've put up the lights, and seedlings are beginning to sprout! The lavender is poking through the soil only a tiny leaf on a hair width stem, but they're strong and growing rapidly.
The flat of leeks are poking through, if they weren't marked, I would think she was growing grass! A lot of the lettuces are growing as well, we'll have fresh salads before long.
